Morocco 7 Summits
I can’t decide if trekking/mountaineering is type 1 or type 2 fun .. it’s a bit of both I suppose. Certainly in Morocco I (and I suspect many of the others on the trip) were pushed regularly outside our comfort zones on the climbs - but in retrospect it was all great fun! Climbing 7 summits in 5 days (it was actually 8 summits!), 5 over 4000m is not a trivial undertaking - it tests physical and mental fitness and gives great experience in true expedition climbing - sitting in base camp in tents with little cleaning facilities and basic toilet facilities.
Yes, all good fun! But what makes a trip like this are the challenges, the camaraderie, the laughs, the tears and immersing yourself in the culture. I regularly had to pinch myself to remind me where I was and what I was doing.
A blog nor the pictures taken do this experience justice. For the record, here are the peaks we summitted:
Tasserimoute - 2540m
Aguelzim - 3547m
Toubkal - 4167m
Imouzzer - 4010m
Tibheirine - 3887m
Timesquida - 4089m
Ras - 4083m
Akioud - 4030m
